Underdrawing:
Pentimenti, around canopy and head of man, in graphite; The finial on top of the canopy was once larger and a band, very faintly sketched across the forehead of the man, suggests that he once wore a hat. Just discernible above his head are two fronds, like those that sprout from other hats worn by characters in the "Livre de Caricatures".
