Brief Description

Trade card for Jacob and later Blot, drapers, At the Golden Head. The card consists of letterpress text surrounded by an ornament border of fleurons on three sides. The border is not printed along the lower edge.

Curatorial Commentary

The design of this card is very similar to another textile merchant based near the rue des Bourdonnois, see 3686.2.1.1. The address is not exactly the same however, suggesting this was not the same premises. Instead, it may reveal a stylistic similarity used by several, presumably competing, tradesmen engaged in the same trade in the same area.

For information about Saint-Maur silks, see information about Charlier in 3686.3.70.153.
